The parents of a boar should be subjected to an ancestry or individual test. A distinction should be made between index requests for sows/boars that are used for the production of breeding animals and the corresponding requirements for boars used for the production of finishers.
DanBred Landrace and DanBred Yorkshire sows/boars for the production of mother animals should have a breeding value index of at least 115. If the breeding animals are acquired as newborns or Caesarean births, the index value should be at least 118.
Acquired purebred sows intended for boar production should have a breeding value index of at least 118. If the breeding animals are acquired as newborns or Caesarean births, the index value should be at least 121.
When acquiring the above mentioned boar semen from artificial insemination boars, the breeding value index of these animals should be at least 120.
DanBred Duroc boars for the production of finishers should have a breeding value index of at least 115. If the breeding animals are acquired as newborns or Caesarean births, the index value should be at least 118.
